Here's the app I wish more women knew about...

How many times have you wanted a cool woman friend to vent to or go to the movies with? Have you ever moved to a new area where you did not know many friends? I know just from working at home; I have to remember to fit in time for socializing. Besides; it is a wonderful way to also network genuinely. That's why I highly recommend this app for women.

This app has some groups you can join to connect with like-minded women; mainly moms. I have even found groups I enjoy for recipes, fitness, play dates, girls night out, crafts, and more. There is even virtual-only book clubs and a podcast-style feature. Even if you are shy and not into meeting up with new friends; you can read or post in support forums for advice, tips, and conversation virtually.

Too bad this app was not around when I was an eighteen year old. When I was a new mom I did not know of it; I wish I did. There are tons of parenting chats, breastfeeding, and potty training advice. With the mom groups alone; I would have enjoyed coffee chats with other moms going through what I went through such as co-parenting. You can try the app out now; I use the free version so there is nothing to lose.

5 tips to making mom friends

Are you a mom in need of some mom friends? Wanting to find some friends in your area to meet up for play dates or a mom's night out? Having great friends is very beneficial and I see so many moms in online groups I am in struggling with loneliness.

A lot of moms can feel left out if their other friends do not have children or their children are not in the same age group. Some moms move to new areas and just have not found a group of people they connect with well yet. That is okay; there are plenty of ways to find some girl friends to spend time with.

What helped me a lot is finding ways to volunteer in my area and practicing going places alone...such as gyms and restaurants. I am pretty outgoing at times so I made an effort to simply get out the house and start exploring my city a bit. It is easy to sit online and get glued to social media. I always worked at home a lot so that did not help with my social life...

Now I have no problem meeting others and I really value my relationships with my women friends. I must say...they throw the best parties when we I visit them for gatherings. There is always so much good food and we get together for game nights or fine dining.

I am also in groups specifically for moms which is beneficial for my child. I will admit; it took me awhile to find the ones that were a good fit for us. I had to also keep in mind that this way for my child and a way for him to socialize since we homeschool. I only felt uncomfortable in one I tried; and that is okay! You just do not have to go back. Do not be discouraged if some just are not what you enjoy. At least you tried!

When I try groups or new places; I try to do as much research on where we will be meeting. I go to events in public places that seem to be in areas I feel safe in or have visited before. Be safe and avoid any groups that seem like they are selling items. Sadly; some people join online or in-person groups to pretend to be friendly...only to try to recruit you into a pyramid scheme the next day.

Now I can spot a scam a mile away so I do not have those issues anymore. When I was new to finding things to do online...it was frustrating. That is why I sorted through all the junk for you to find the groups and activities I have found legit and worthwhile for making mom friends.

Here are five ways you can begin making new friends today!

1. Join Meetup.com since they have groups to join nationwide for moms, book clubs and more. You can even start your own group if none interest you in your area. It is free to join groups and you do not have to start your own group if you would rather just attend meet-ups. Some groups may be fun for you to go to when you are kid-free some weekends and need some adult-interaction.

I have gone to some groups with women-only who get together for lunches, crafts and movie nights. I have also had my own mom group using Meetup in which I hosted play dates in my area.

2. Moms Club was a great resource for my son and I when we lived in a state where we knew absolutely no one. The group was welcoming and there are often a few chapters in each state or you can start your own if none are available where you reside. The mom group I was in would meet for holiday craft-making, play dates galore and pretty much any occasion to chat about all things parenting and what was going on in our lives. I felt these groups met a lot more often than other organizations I had tried which was nice!

This group was an amazing group of women who were so supportive of one another and genuinely there for each and every member. Every woman had a different story and we would often meet at one another's homes or parks for our children to play. I believe we had an application process for safety measures; but it was a great experience. I remember some ladies often organizing meal trains for those who just had a baby and what-not.

3. MOPS is often faith-based but each group I have been to is ran a tad differently. Most seem to meet monthly or so and are involved in the community or a church somehow. I had a nice experience anytime I have been to a MOPS chapter. With the groups I attended; certain people were assigned a dish to bring to some meetings and childcare was provided. There was usually a minimal fee but it was worthwhile just for the childcare alone!

4. Peanut is an app in which you can chat with local moms or join mom groups in your area. Some mom groups on this app meet for play dates and have great friend groups to be apart of...that actually get off their phones and get together! I LOVE that!

I will admit; it is so frustrating when I join parenting and mommy groups on social media in my area to meet up...and they never get together. I prefer getting out the house at least monthly or having girl friends to go grab bunch with. Besides; I spend enough time with technology while working and it is so much more fun to have a good friend to go to water parks and zoo adventures with.

Bumble BFF is another app for finding friends. I am not a fan of it; but I have heard of others having luck with it so I may try it again in the future.

5. Why not enroll your children in classes such as Tinkergarten? Your children can explore nature, learn and socialize while you possibly end up meeting new mom friends! Double-win!

Ways you can work from home

This blog post contains affiliate links

Would you be interested in trying a remote or telecommuting work opportunity? Some people enjoy working from their home office; you may too! Finding legitimate work at home jobs can be quite challenging online since there are a lot of scams.

Unfortunately there are a lot of companies that look and seem legit...but are actually predatory scams I have even fallen for more than I would like to admit. It took me years to educate myself on red flags and stop falling for those sketchy pyramid schemes. You can learn more about how to avoid work at home scams from Feisty Talks, Not The Good Girl or CC Suarez. They are education and hilarious at times.

You may want to invest in a noise-cancelling headset if you do any type of phone work. Some jobs I have seen in the customer service fields often require it.

The Mom Project is a nice option to check out when searching for remote work. Would you enjoy teaching English virtually? Apply for this work from home position

Recently I noticed Aspire had quite a few remote jobs to apply to in categories such as marketing, engineering, finance, sales and more.

Apply as a tutor

Uber Eats allows you the opportunity to make money with food deliveries

A common way people in my area earn extra cash is doing instacart. It is not a remote job but it is usually flexible for those who are stay at home parents or already work a full-time job. I have not tried it but I have ordered from them as a customer and loved the service. Working for them means you can earn tips as well.

Apply for a work from home customer support position. Use referral code 4132422 to apply at Arise.

I wanted to share some companies I have seen usually hiring remote workers. This list changes and updates and this blog and it's contributors are not responsible for if you are hired or can apply at this time. Not every opportunity is a good fit for everyone and do not expect to earn millions of dollars. These are more flexible and part-time jobs to help perhaps with your savings, car gas or paying smaller bills.

 Resumes Written For You

Some people do earn a lot more money than just grocery money but that is few and far between. It is hard for people to maintain discipline working from home from what I have noticed. A lot of people do prefer working at an actual office and I can totally see why.

There are many other options to working from home than joining those scammy home party plan businesses also.  A family member of mine works very part-time outside her home as a substitute teacher. It is not home based but it still is flexible since she can do the jobs when she has the time.

....I would fall for those types of companies for many years. I would get recruited to buy a kit then host parties or ask people to buy my overpriced jewelry, shakes and cosmetics. Nothing against people who do those; it just was not profitable for me; and I would rather not recruit others or sell for a company I will never really own. It was cheaper for me to just buy items wholesale or start my own boutique in the long run.

In no way am I saying people who work for multi-level marketing companies are bad people or scammers. I genuinely was trained by those who got me into the business that I was helping others by promoting these "home-based businesses." In all actuality we were just independent contractors selling for wealthy CEO's who would not care about us either way or the other.

Over time I would have made way more money just getting a nine to five job or something with an hourly pay. Some offer perks and benefits. I made extra money baby-sitting, housekeeping, affiliate marketing and re-selling fashion online in the past. They were all helpful to me as I am a mom and it gets so expensive doing a lot of activities with children sometimes. I am thankful for ways to generate income without having to pay insane daycare costs.

Sure the money is not amazing from all work at home gigs I have done but it weighs out because I was able to work it around my schedule. I figured if I did another job outside the home; I would have to pay for childcare, gas and I would often buy work clothes, lunches and morning coffees. It adds up fast!

Some other ideas to working from mostly home could be starting a photography business or obtaining an insurance license. Daycare owners or real estate agents can often choose their own hours as well. I know of two friends who make income as a nanny and charge around twenty (USD) bucks per hour. A podcaster I know boards dogs and pet sits. Love animals? Start your own pet-sitting or dog walking business. Regardless; I suggest finding something you enjoy a lot so you are actually enjoying what you do.

Telecommute, remote or work at home are some things you should search for online if none of the companies below would be a good match for you. Not all companies are constantly hiring or accepting applicants but it is nice to have this list handy to share with others in need of additional income ideas.

Have a swimming pool? You can apply to rent out your swimming pool. People love renting pools for parties, photo sessions and gatherings with their friends.

Do you have experience as well as a portfolio when it comes to photography? Consider applying with Flytographer.

Places to re-sell or trade your children + babies outgrown clothing

When it came to baby toys, gear, shoes and clothes...I had accumulated so much overtime! A lot of the clothes still had tags on them or were only worn once. It was always so much fun shopping for baby clothes and toys when I was pregnant. Usually you get a lot of gifts for the baby and they grow so fast not getting time to use or wear all the items.

Once my son outgrew shoes and clothes I would make extra money re-selling them. I did not like selling on those social media market places for safety reasons. It always ate into my profit meeting up with people. It was also a bit annoying if you got no-shows after driving to meet them.

Some items I gave to friends or donated but I wanted to try trading or re-selling them as well. There are places in my area such as Once Upon A Child stores that buy, sell and trade gently used or new children's item. I still use that store to this day; whether it is for buying or selling items.

Once Upon a Child is pretty picky with what they take so always check companies rules and policies beforehand. This will save you time, frustration and gas. My local Once Upon a Child does not take certain brands such as Wal-Mart Garanimals brand.

Of course these companies will not take stained, damaged items or toys missing pieces. Once Upon a Child does take toys and books so that is a plus.

Other options to buying, selling and trading options are listed below. Each company operates and accepts different items. Several companies I notice only accept boutique style items or mall brands. Some are not as strict with their rules; you just have to find a company and program that works best for you. I do a mix of a few and the extra money can be helpful.

In no way am I saying be prepared to earn thousands. I would think you could earn just a smaller amount or a decent trade value pending on the quality and number of items you get sold. Do not get frustrated if you cannot sell older brands; I have companies reject items of mine at times. Sometimes I overlook a flaw.

When inspecting your items to re-sell; use good lighting and make sure they are free of fading, pet hairs, tears and stains. Some of the companies are only accepting seller accounts from certain areas for now; especially the newer stores.

 Happy re-selling!

How some stay at home moms are earning extra income

Are you a stay at home parent on the hunt for something that can generate some extra income for your family? I know the feeling all too well. There is so much junk and scams online so I wanted to share this list of legitimate, real and flexible side jobs to check out.

Some companies hire remote workers at times...such as StyleSeat, AllState, NfinityDropbox, Volunteer MatchThe Mom Project, MintedTinkergarten, Moms Meet, ClassPass and Hellosign.

Recently I noticed Aspire had quite a few remote jobs to apply to in categories such as marketing, engineering, finance, sales and more.

Apply for a work from home customer support position. Use referral code 4132422 to apply at Arise.

Uber Eats allows you the opportunity to make money with food deliveries

Sure; you will not get rich doing these gigs but they are still helpful to some families that could use extra funds for their children's sports or grocery shopping. I know an extra few hundred bucks per month comes in quite handy when my little one wants to go to a museum or have a fun day out.

Keep in mind I can guarantee you will be hired at any or all of these options but I know I have researched and enjoyed them. Not all are for everyone but one may just be the perfect fit for you or someone you know. Find more ideas HERE.

I love blogging to make extra income from home. Bloggers can make money by selling their own products, sponsored posts and affiliate marketing

Do you love pets? Maybe consider learning how to start your own pet-sitting business

Do you love photography and already have a portfolio and experience? Try applying with Flytographer.

Baby-sitting

This company allows you to choose your own schedule, families to work for and you can get paid directly from an app. They also offer rewards for the more bookings you complete. I have baby-sat on the app and loved how user-friendly it was. I find it safer than finding baby-sitting jobs other areas. The app allows you to learn more about the family and alerts you when a job is available.

Apply as a tutor

Renting space

If this is not interesting...I do not know what is. Families are actually renting their extra shed space, garage space and sheds for example. Why not? Some people need it to for RV parking, their extra cars or personal storage. This is more convenient and cheaper for some.

Consigning Online

You can clean out your closet and consign items clothing and shoes by mail. The company then sells them for you online. I find it easier than other re-selling options. They are not as picky; meaning they take the cheaper and more affordable brands. Not just luxury or mall brands. You request or print a pre-paid shipping label; then send your box to the company to photograph and sell for you. You can then be paid via check or another option they use for payment processing that is very popular. I have used this company for years and love referring them to others.

Renting Baby Gear

Did you know you can help families that perhaps travel and want to rent baby gear such as toys or  a bassinet? Apparently it is a thing and I tried it. If accepted to be apart of their team; the company will help you with things such as getting started with the details. They do a phone interview type thing when you show interest and can explain all the information.

Cleaning Baby Gear

Finding companies that do not make you sell products is amazing! So many moms need some help cleaning items such as car seats. This is a unique option to making money on the side. This may be good for someone who enjoys cleaning or organizing perhaps.

Pet-Sitting or Senior Care

So many families are needing help with duties such as pet-sitting or taking care of a loved one. If care taking is something you enjoy; perhaps consider helping other families. You can set your own rates and choose which families you want to work with.

Create a Youtube Channel

Many youtube content creators are making serious money. Like thousands each month! Many earn enough to do it solely. How cool is that? Choose something you love talking about or just vlog about your own life and stories. I suggest finding a main niche however. My favorite youtube channels are true crime and anti-mlm. I find them quite fascinating!

Re-selling home decor or fashion

Many women and men re-sell items such as coffee mugs, home decor and more. They get items from their home or garage sales for low prices; then re-sell to make a profit. I think it is wonderful to help with recycling perfectly good items some just throw away.

Set your family pool up for rentals

Having a private pool at your home can have some perks! Some families need to borrow a pool for events, parties or just to relax. Some photographers need to use swimming pools for their photo sessions. You can make money by leasing them yours

Need a mom's get-a-way on a budget?

Do you need a Mother's Day re-do, "stay-cation" or just a break for a day? Great parents deserve just that too! In fact; I feel so much happier and like a much better parent when I get time alone or just to be with my closest friends for a few hours.

Ticketclub.com

I used to feel so guilty for not feeling like grocery shopping and using instacart. I would feel lazy when I was just exhausted from countless play dates and endless laundry to name a few. Now I make sure to take more time out for myself; and I make less time for mom guilt. We all get it from time to time parenting. Some moms are shamed for working too much while others get shamed for working too little. Moms need less stress and more joy these days!

There is a really cool company that allows you to just rent day passes to luxury places such as hotels, cabanas, resorts, pools and spas. This is perfect for a moms day out or just to relax alone. These also make great suggestions for your spouse to spoil you with on special occasions or just because.

You can rent private pools HERE.
